Course Levels 1 to 5

Depending on the skill level of our students, we offer different levels of difficulty for our 1-day courses. These are detailed below in order of increasing complexity.

Level 1

This is a beginners level course. Here we practice with situations of daily life in other countries the way they might occur when you travel there or have just arrived for a longer professional stay. This level addresses people who have not yet travelled much to foreign countries. This preliminary level of difficulty will help you become much more at ease in meeting others, foreigners or not, also within your hometown.

Level 2

Here we use studies that are a bit more challenging than those in level 1. This level addresses people who have been abroad as tourists and would like to increase their engagement with the local people on their next trip. With this level of difficulty you will find yourself more skilled in engaging with others from different cultures.

Level 3

Here we use stories that can be somewhat more difficult to understand and to resolve. This level addresses people who like to travel abroad and see this as a possibility to further their own ‘third culture’ development. With this level of difficulty we prepare you to feel ready to face light conflicts with others in culturally new situations, and to resolve them in a win-win situation.

Level 4

Here we address situations that may trigger worries about your personal health and safety. Finding solutions to the challenges in these stories requires both, courage and creativity. This level addresses people who have spent time abroad longer than a tourist typically would, for example living as a professional or a student. With this level of training you will be able to understand and better resolve complex issues both locally and abroad.

Level 5

This is our most advanced level course. Here we use stories that could trigger fear and helplessness. Therefore, here we only accept participants who have already taken level 4 training with us previously. With this level of training you will be able to overcome the feeling of culture shock even in the most challenging situations and will be able to recover with relative ease.
